Child Knocked Down and Killed Going Home from Church

A little boy was knocked down and killed in Corozal Town shortly after midday on Sunday. It happened just after the seven-year-old and his family had left church and were riding their bicycles on Third Street, heading home. Today, Asuceli Chan told News Five via phone that her son, Juan Osorio, was riding his bicycle, along with four of her other children, across a section of the street that has stop signs.

“I was just coming out from church and then decided to turn back because I see the Chinese was closing up. I see they have discounts and I turned back, but my fault was I don’t see him to pass the street and there when my son shouted, mom, mom, my brother, Juan died. I just like freeze, I just come out, I see my son. The bike was down of the car and the man who crashed him, take out the bike from down of the car and he says, I don’t have the fault, I don’t have the fault. He never even wait for my kids cross the street and they have two stop signs that you have to stop – mandatory the stop, you have to stop. My four other kids were riding bike, too, not just him, but four of them were riding bikes. From four years I teach him to ride bike. He was a lovely boy, he was a smart boy. He was everything for me, and now just – I will not see him again.”
