U.S. citizen assaults police officer
And that gear might be used sooner than they thought. Shortly before five this evening, we received a telephone call informing us that shots were being fired at the Raccoon Street police station. When we arrived on the scene we were told by Head of Traffic Branch ASP Ewart Itza, that his officers had just brought into the compound thirty three year old American citizen William Shaw, along with his vehicle. As Shaw was being asked to step out of the truck he suddenly turned on the arresting officer, Police Constable Bull. Itza said he was upstairs inside his office when he got word about the attack. By the time he reached downstairs, Shaw had locked himself inside the vehicle and was attempting to drive out of the compound. That’s when the cops opened fire.
ASP Ewart Itza – Head of Traffic Branch)
“I was told that he assaulted P.C Bull with the weapon and he was taken to the hospital. Why did he assault P.C Bull? he was brought in for Insurance and license. he appears not to be normal like he is on some drugs or something. You’ll had to shoot the front tire, I was made to understand, Why was that necessary? He attempted to reverse the vehicle out of the compound, hitting the fence so they just shoot the tire in order to stop him from going. What now will happen to the gentleman? Well he will be charged for assaulting a police officer with and he has the other traffic offenses.”
According to Itza, they believe the passport which was produced by Shaw is false and they are not even sure at this time if William Shaw is the man’s real name. Meanwhile P.C Bull’s injury has been classified as minor.
