Blood Drive, Turkey Dinner Sale for Wayne Matura’s Recovery

Wayne Matura

Wayne Matura is the second shooting victim in Sunday’s deadly attack in Belize City and, as we’ve reported, he remains hospitalized at this time.  Matura is scheduled to undergo surgery for the injury he received to his leg. The Belize Blood Bank has donated eight pints of blood, but there is still a need for more. The family is also organizing a turkey dinner sale on July fourteenth to assist with medical expenses that have been racking up. Matura’s sister, Rema speaks to News Five about these initiatives.

“We’re gonna have a turkey dinner sale next week Friday, the fourteenth of July to raise funds for his medical bill and the surgery he is going to undergo and we are also asking for more blood because the blood bank is always in need of blood. They gave us eight pints just like that, no questions asked. So we just want to thank them by just giving them back some; they are not asking back for it.”

“Let’s talk about the turkey dinner. You said it is later on this month. How much for a turkey? How can people get?”

“It’s going to be straight off the fire hearth. My mom’s number is 621-0947. It is twelve dollars a plate and it comes with dessert. We are going to start from eleven [o’clock] until it’s finished. Basically it is just to pay the hospital bill and the mountain expenses that these fools left us in.”
