“We have set out a plan for the next three year period which is seeking to invest a total of sixteen point five million dollars across forty protected areas across Belize. Some of the things we are going to be focusing our investments in are going to be management activities of protected areas to ensure there is increased management presence at these sites. Also, to invest in programs that promote collaboration amongst all the actors across systems to ensure that we are maximizing the impact of those investments, ensuring that we consolidating resources that are available and those we are creating efficiencies in the investments that we are making. So it is moving from a site based approach to the financing to more the landscape and seascape approach to financing. So, that is one of the key features. The third aspect of this program and plan is that it is going to targeting projects and programs that promote collaboration among all the partners implanting and doing protected areas work on the ground. Again we are moving away from that individual approach and looking at activities that have to do with standardization of processes and frameworks and overall coordination and consolidation of all the efforts that are on the ground.”
