Cordel and Julius Scoff at Boots’ Recall Campaign

Cordel Hyde

On Wednesday, former Port Loyola Area Representative Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez launched a petition to garner as many as one thousand, five hundred signatures from registered voters in that constituency.  The effort, on behalf of disgruntled residents, is to trigger a recall mechanism in an attempt to unseat former political opponent, Gilroy Usher Senior.  He told the media during a recent press conference that he intends to exceed the minimum threshold needed to activate Usher’s dismissal through a bye-election.  But is he being taken seriously by elected officials in the People’s United Party?  We got a few reactions earlier today from the Deputy Prime Minister, as well as the Area Representative for Cayo South.

Cordel Hyde, Area Representative, Lake-I

“Man, man, Boots like play, yoh noh.  Da bredda deh play too much.  Ultimately, all politicians struggle with this and ultimately when you’ve left, I guess that’s kind of expected, you need to come to grips with the fact that you’re no longer in the game.  That you’re no longer the representative, that you have left politics, you know, and not even a standard bearer.  Ultimately, it’s a difficult thing.  It’s a disease that very many politicians, it’s hard for us to shake, I mean, we see that same affliction with the former prime minister.  So, there you go.”
