Sports Council Assists Belize Power Lifting Team with Track Suits

A team of power lifting athletes departs for the Cayman Islands on August sixth, where members will participate in various categories of competition as they represent the Jewel.  Earlier today, the National Sports Council handed over official tracksuits to be worn by the team during the event.  Present were Power Lifting Association President Khalid Usher and Sports Director Iris Centeno.

“It’s the first time we are having official tracksuits for our national team.  This year, we have eighteen people going to the Cayman Islands and that’s the biggest team we’ve had for power lifting in the country since we started in 2018.  So it’s a very exciting day, the Sports Council in Belize City is giving us the tracksuits as part of their donation to us and we are very thankful.”

“Every discipline is given the opportunity to athletes in the country and I am very happy today, well it’s a special day, I will be showing of later that I had the opportunity to present and hand over the tracksuits.  That’s the reason that we are gathered here and I am happy that I am a part of this special day for you all.  For the persons here representing us, go out there and be proud, make memories but at the same time remember that jersey, bring back something memorable for us, build it, your families, your friends, everyone will be so proud of you.  But what matters most is that you are proud of yourself and you are doing something positive for Belize because I am sure that if you are involved in sports that means that you’re a better citizen.  If you are involved in sports, I know that you are passionate, so definitely whatever you are doing in Belize it’s a hundred percent the best out of you.”
