Trial into murder of Faron Felix underway
In court, the murder trial of sixteen year old Faron Leslie Felix got underway today. Felix is the son of Therese Felix, who in life became the poster girl against crime after the young man, was violently and gruesomely killed near his home when he was ambushed by gunmen who waited for him behind a cement fence. Faron was fatally shot eight times to the body while his friend, Cordell Flowers, was shot two times. In trial today, evidence against the two alleged gunman began to unfold before Justice Michelle Arana. The two accused are Norman McKenzie, then a minor and Jason McKenzie. Prosecutor Senior Crown Counsel, Cecil Ramirez, called his first witness to the stand, shooting victim, Flowers. Flowers testified that on the night of November thirtieth, he and Faron were on Faber’s Road heading towards Central American Boulevard, when someone opened fire on them in the vicinity of the Port Loyola Pre-School. Flowers, however, under cross examination was unable to tell the court whether or not the accused men, McKenzie and Gentle, were the gunman. Another witness, Marvin Locke, who in 2007 was a Taxi-Driver but is now a police constable, told the court that on the night in question, he heard five shots, jumped into his car and headed to the area of Central American Boulevard. When he arrived, he saw two young men jumping off the fence of the pre-school. Locke said that the two men he saw were Gentle and McKenzie. Four other witnesses took the stand and on Wednesday, Dr. Mario Estradabran, is expected to testify before closing his case. McKenzie is being represented by Linsbert Willis while Gentle is being represented by Simeon Sampson.
