Treasury Clerk Accused of Misappropriating Funds

A treasury clerk is tonight in hot water after being charged with three counts of theft. A police investigation into forty-three-year-old Rona “Ronnie” Ireland revealed that she allegedly misappropriated a total of four thousand, five hundred and one dollars from the Treasury Department. According to police, Ireland dishonestly appropriated nine hundred and ninety-three dollars on February third, six hundred dollars on May fourth, and two thousand nine hundred and sixty-nine dollars on May twenty-fifth. She appeared inside the Belize City Magistrates Court this afternoon where she pled not guilty to the charges. There was no objection to bail. As a result, she was offered bail in the sum of two thousand dollars, plus two sureties of one thousand dollars each.  Ireland’s next court date is set for September twenty-second.
