Phozaun Lewis’ Murder Likely the Result of Internal Gang Conflict
The badly decomposed remains of an individual believed to be twenty-three-year-old Phozaun Lewis, was discovered in the Maxboro neighborhood of Sand Hill Village on July twenty-first. The body was found behind the steering wheel of a BMW vehicle. But who would have killed Phozaun and why? Police say that his murder may have been the result of an internal feud within the PIV gang. While this may be so, the question was put to the Commissioner of Police whether these victims and perpetrators are employed by the Leadership Intervention Unit.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“At this time no. We still do have strong feelings that it is him, based on the vehicle and how he was dressed. I think the post mortem has been conducted, I have not gotten the results of that as yet to see if they were able to identify the tattoos on his body which would have confirmed that it is him. But again, we are looking at that matter.”

“Is that an internal PIV matter, sir?”
“We do believe that it is internal. We do have… we had some people detained but we could not have obtained enough information to lay charges against them and so they had to be released. But it’s an investigation the police continue to pursue. The persons that we had detained for the Phozaun Lewis murder, while yes, they are members of PIV, and let me make it clear. While for the most part PIV and BLC are active members of LIU, not everyone within those two groups are involved with LIU… being employed by LIU. So those two individuals that we had detained for Phozaun’s murder are not employed by LIU. Yes, they are members of PIV, but they are not employed by LIU. Likewise, with Alex Underwood, he is not employed by LIU. We classify membership of LIU as persons who are employed by LIU within their respective programs, as you would know the programs that we are running.”
