CitCo Donates To Fort George
And while York Street residents are relieved to have a new thoroughfare, the residents of Fort George will have a new receptacle to better manage their garbage problem. That comes after the Belize City Council, which is responsible for garbage collection, handed over a check to Fort George Area Representative, Henry Charles Usher today. Mayor Bernard Wagner explained the purpose of the donation.
Bernard Wagner, Mayor, Belize City
“It was $5, 665 and it was really to alleviate what they call hot spots in the city. We have it all over the place. If you drive by Mayflower (Street) right now, you’ll see a big bunch of garbage there. So this receptacle that will be built will be as a storage area. The residents in the area on pick up days will take all those garbage in their bins. It’s a much more safer, more cleaner, more, health-conscious type of approach.”
