S.S.B. to Host Its Annual Public Forum

Next Friday, August eleventh, the Social Security Board will be hosting its annual S.S.B. Connect Public Forum. While speaking with Communications and P.R. Manager Vanessa Vellos, she invited the media and those interested to find out more about contribution reform and any other hot-button topics.

“S.S.B. Connect – that is the forum that you get an opportunity to see how S.S.B. performed last year, what are those advancements that we have been making and of course, it is an open forum that you can come and ask all your questions. As far as I am aware at this point, there aren’t any more contribution increases right now. But it is important and at the end of the day, how do you make the fund sustainable. If you just give in your money, you know that sum at the end of the week, at the end of the month; at the end of the day it is still not enough to sustain the fund. That’s why S.S.B. has to invest to make the fund more robust and so forth. And so I think that Belizeans are understanding that in order for the fund to exist and to pay out the benefits that it needs to pay out that you have to employ different strategies to get it to be more sustainable for the long term.”
