Hit and run accident kills Diego Sanchez

Last week there were three reported fatal traffic accidents on the Northern Highway. Twenty-nine year old Dorian Herrera was knocked down and killed between miles twenty-four and twenty-five on the Northern Highway after ten in the morning on Thursday. The driver of the vehicle, eighty year old Gordon Stout was charged with Causing Death by Careless Conduct. But later that day, another man was killed on the same highway but further north. This time the hit occurred in Corozal District between miles seventy three and seventy four on the outskirts of Louisville Village. Twenty two year old Diego Sanchez died on the spot and according to Sanchez’s father, the driver of the vehicle never stopped to help his dying child.

“Well, I was sleeping that Thursday night when the police arrived at around eleven. I got up and went outside. I thought they were there for something else. They asked me if Diego Armando was my son and I told them yes. They told me that they had some bad news to give me. They told me Diego had died. They found the body at the edge of the road. When I got there afterwards I only saw blood on the ground. This took place in Corozal, just after Louisville. He had two daughters and his girlfriend was expecting another baby.”
