Opposition Leader Optimistic that No-Confidence Motion will be Tabled
On August first, Opposition Leader Shyne Barrow submitted a request for a no-confidence motion to be tabled during Friday’s sitting of the House of Representatives. It follows a position taken by the United Democratic Party that Prime Minister John Briceño no longer enjoys the support of his cabinet. But what’s the fate of that request ahead of the house meeting? According to Barrow, he is yet to get a response from the Speaker of the House, however, he has no reason to believe that the motion will not be tabled.

“Well I actually wrote again to say that I haven’t heard anything and they said that they had forwarded it to the speaker because it does have to go to the speaker for her review. And so, I haven’t heard back.”

“So you don’t know if it will be tabled?”
Shyne Barrow
“I have no reason to believe that it won’t be tabled, but I have not heard any negative.”

“And if it’s not for this house meeting, when do you expect it?”
Shyne Barrow
“Well I don’t see why it wouldn’t be, so I don’t want to get ahead of myself.”
