Former CitCo Finance Director still in critical condition
Thursday morning Dwain Davis suffered a massive stroke and tonight he is still in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Doctors diagnosed that the stroke caused bleeding in his brainstem. The extent of the brain damage makes his chances of recovery very grim. Davis has been placed on a medical ventilator, a machine designed to pump breathable air in and out of the lungs. The former Director of Finance for the Belize City Council was leaving the courthouse Thursday morning and called his wife to give her an update on his case when he was hit as he was entering a vehicle. Davis was in the company of his friend Ryan Swift, who took him to the hospital. Outside the emergency area, Davis’ wife, mother in law, Mayor Moya Flowers, and other city council employees waited to hear news of his condition. Davis has been charged along with the Mayor with twenty-two counts of Uttering a False Document. He has pleaded not guilty and the case was adjourned until the twelfth of January.
