Shyne Barrow is Confident of a U.D.P. Victory in 2024 Municipals
Last week, U.D.P. Party Leader Shyne Barrow also weighed in on the municipal race. While he is confident that the United Democratic Party will emerge victorious in all nine municipalities, he was also critical of the P.U.P. for refusing to endorse Mayor Wagner’s candidacy, as well as the comments made by Deputy Mayor Allan Pollard.
Shyne Barrow, Party Leader, U.D.P.
“I do believe that sometimes there is a perverted exaggeration of the state of play. Look at the Belize City Council, the mayor is being challenged by his deputy and that is not being as sensationalized as the state of play in the United Democratic Party. To me, that is quite controversial and quite contentious that your own deputy mayor lacks confidence in you. And he said it, in not so many words, that they need a change. Di change wahn be the UDP is going to take over the municipal body in Belize City, but Allan Pollard is telling you that Mayor Wagner has to go and I don‘t think that has been as controversialized as things in the UDP. Again, in my party, we endorsed our mayor, Mayor Trapp.”
