P.U.P. Hopes To Maintain Municipal Support in 2024
On Monday, we asked Prime Minister John Briceño for his projections of the municipal elections, given his administration’s performance up to this point. In 2021, the People’s United Party dominated the municipal elections, conceding only two seats. Can they repeat this performance in 2024? Prime Minister Briceño says they will do everything possible to maintain that level of support, while admitting that in politics things can change.
John Briceño, P.U.P. Leader
“It is difficult, we have set the bar so high, because in the last election we only lost one mayoral candidate and one town council, so if we lose one more you could say oh, they are losing grounds. So, we have set the bar high. We will do everything possible to hold on to that level of support and I believe that we have been doing, providing the level of service that our citizens expects from us. With the little resources we have we have been managing to organize many of the municipal bodies and they have been providing a better service than before. But, things change, there is no difficulty, you have certainly some supporters that are disappointed, they never get a piece of land or their house or a job or whatever it is, so when election come they say you never do this for me so I won’t vote for you, it is a part of politics.”
