MPUELE Holds Energy Stakeholder Consultation

Jose Urbina

The Ministry of Public Utilities & Energy held a National Energy Policy Stakeholder Consultation in Belize City on Monday.  Present at the meeting was Chief Executive Officer Jose Urbina.

Jose Urbina, C.E.O., Ministry of Public Utilities & Energy

“An energy policy implies legislative reform and both play pivotal roles in reshaping a sustainable future for Belize.  With the ever-increasing demand of energy and mounting concerns about climate change, it is imperative that we establish a comprehensive policy and reform existing legislations to address challenges effectively.  The energy policy serves as a blueprint for a nation’s approach to energy production, distribution and consumption.  It outlines strategies to ensure energy security, accessibility, affordability and environmental responsibility.  A well-defined energy policy can drive investment in renewable sources such as solar, wind and hydroelectric power, fostering a transition away from fossil fuels and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by incentivizing research development and development of clean energy technologies.  A robust energy policy can drive economic growth, while mitigating the impact of climate change.”
