US Embassy Investigating Visa Scam involving Armenia Villagers
Today, U.S. Ambassador to Belize Michelle Kwan gave brief remarks on a visa scam in which villagers from Armenia allege that they were swindled out of thousands of dollars by a man who claimed that he could guarantee them U.S. visas. Dozens of villagers reportedly paid one thousand, five hundred dollars each to get visas and were given false appointments. It’s a matter that is being investigated by the Belize Police Department as well as the U.S. Embassy in Belize. Here’s what Ambassador Kwan had to say.
Michelle Kwan, US Ambassador to Belize
“I can’t say too much on the details, but I encourage folks to go online. And I know that the process is often daunting for visa and if they need assistance, I would encourage them to get reputable lawyers and others involved to help them throughout their process.”

Michelle Kwan
“The U.S. Embassy is well aware of the situation and we are definitely looking into it.”
