A former Belize Defense Force soldier has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison in connection with a shooting incident in Belize City. Reports are that on Saturday night, police responded to the scene of a shooting on Western Avenue. When they arrived, they were informed that two men on motorcycle were seen traveling on Western Avenue coming from the direction of Mahogany Street. Several shots were fired from the motorcycle, as the men approached a property where fifty-year-old William Faux was socializing. Faux sustained injuries to the foot. Several expended shells were retrieved from the scene. Police also found a Meilun brand motorcycle that was left behind by the shooter. A nine millimeter pistol with twelve live rounds was also discovered. Police say they also found a key on the motorcycle with a key holder that contained a picture of Tevin Devon Montero. This afternoon, he appeared before a Senior Magistrate where he was read four charges, one count of use of deadly means of harm, one count of dangerous harm; one count of kept unlicensed firearm and one count of kept unlicensed ammunitions. The Senior Magistrate explained to him that two of the offenses for which he is charged are indictable offenses, which means no plea will be taken from him.
