Con woman swindles two women out of money
The government of Belize has indicated that it will disburse the Venezuelan funds for poverty alleviation through small grants to individuals making twenty thousand dollars or less. Well it seems that one enterprising woman decided to take advantage of persons hoping to get the loans by scamming them of hard earned money. The woman, using the name of Lourdes Cawich, visited the home of forty-four year old Sarita Moh of Caledonia Village in the Corozal District earlier this month. Cawich told Moh that she can help her get a five thousand five hundred dollar loan from the government if she pays her an application fee of five hundred dollars. An unsuspecting Moh did and since then she has not seen Cawich. Again on January seventh Cawich visited thirty-nine year old Sandra Pinto of Orange Walk Town at her business, and claimed to work for Minister Marcel Cardona. Cawich promised the trusting woman a government loan, but this time in the sum of three thousand dollars. That loan needed a three hundred dollar application fee which Pinto provided. Cawich has not been seen since.
