Telephone company offers ‘Smart’ promotion

25863You will have to live in another planet, not to know that a battle is raging over phones but the real war is over rates. SMART, the other telephone company, has embarked on its own campaign to win over customers. The promotion took off in the northern districts of Corozal and Orange Walk and SMART says the response has been tremendous. While its competitor has claimed that the Smart’s customers have been making the switch to B.T.L., Roaming and PR Officer for Smart, Ian Courtenay, says over two thousand B.T.L. patrons have jumped ship. So what is drawing people to the smaller company? Courtenay says its better service and prices.

Ian Courtenay, Roaming and PR Officer, SMART
“We have gotten a lot of good vibes from customers in these districts where over two thousand have changed from B.T.L. to SMART. And we have also made it a different promotion in that we have allowed our customers, as a thank you for their loyalty, to upgrade their phones as well. So we have allowed smart customers to upgrade to a new or better phone if they so wish.”

“What is it that you think you have over the competitor that is causing so many people to switch over?”

Ian Courtenay
“We feel one; our good customer service as well as excellent value added services that we offer that have not been matched and of course our hallmark of not only better coverage in more places, but also the fact that we offer value for money. SMART always tries its best to offer promotions and specials for our customers to give back as a sort of retribution for choosing smart and sticking with us.”

“And how do you compare in terms of rates?”

Ian Courtenay
“We have first of all, true per second billing in all calls; both national and international. Our prices are very competitive. Our SMS bundles and so on are cheaper and all our other services are very comparative to our competitors.”

The trade-in campaign will be in Stann Creek and Toledo this weekend and will move to the Cayo and Belize Districts at a later date.
