Who Shot Jahleel Goodger and Why?

As we reported on Tuesday, twenty-seven-year-old Jahleel Goodger was shot shortly after nine that morning as he sat on a step at a house on Vernon Street at its junction with Pine Street. He has since undergone surgery for the bullet wound. Goodger is known to police. In 2017, he was shot in the leg. That same year, he was arrested and charged with stealing an S.U.V from Newtown Barracks. When we spoke with Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams on Wednesday, he said police were still investigating the motive for the shooting.

“Police received information of shots fired in the area of Vernon Street. Upon arrival, they were told that one – a young man was shot, I think to the back. He was taken to the hospital where he is admitted in a stable condition. From what I gather is that he was on a veranda speaking to someone when a lone gunman came and fired one single shot in his direction.”
