B.D.F. Soldier Criminally Charged for Theft of Rifle
Belize Defense Force Soldier Wayne Perry was criminally charged with theft and arraigned in the San Ignacio Magistrate Court in late August. He is accused of stealing an M4 Commando rifle from Camp Belizario in the Cayo District. After a quick and intense investigation, Perry was named as the number one suspect. We understand that he was released on bail. As for his future in the force, that’s what we asked Defense Minister Florencio Marin Junior today.
Florencio Marin Jr., Minister of Defence and Border Security
“Currently, it’s out of our hands because it’s a police investigation. Once that is finished, and I don’t want to comment on what’s happening there, then it becomes an issue, and the general is the one who will take charge of that process that will happen to that particular soldier.”
Duane Moody
“Whether he will remain in the force or not…”
Florencio Marin Jr.
“That’s correct, but we have to make the process go through.”
