Bernard Wagner

The September celebrations are far from over, with several events planned between tonight and the twenty-first of September. But, Belize City Mayor, Bernard Wagner is fed up with the amount of garbage that celebrators are leaving behind after these events. He told reporters that Belizeans need to practice more civic pride and throw their trash in bins.

Bernard Wagner, Mayor, Belize City

“It is about civic pride. Civic pride, civic pride that is all we preach every day. We as residents always speak so good about loving our country but how can you love your country when finish drink a coke you throw the bottle on the ground, when you finish drink an ideal you are throwing it on the ground. How can you speak about loving your country when all you do is liter your country? We have to take a deep introspective look at ourselves as residents of the city. Not because we have the sanitation team to clean up the city that means you wah throws all your garbage in the city man. Please practice some civic pride. I always tell the adults in this country that our kids are watching each and every day and if they see their parents throwing garbage on the streets they would in the future throw it on the streets.”
