Deputy Mayor Says His Plan Is To Give City Residents Relief

Allan Pollard Jr.

Pollard says that he has a lot of plans that he wants to implement if given the chance to run the city. He says that if the convention endorses Mayor Wagner, he and his supporters will be very disappointed; however, he didn’t go as far as saying that he will protest such a decision.

Allan Pollard Jr., Deputy Mayor, Belize City
“I can do a lot more in this city. I have a lot of passion. I love this city. This is where I live. This is where I want to grow old and where I want to raise kids. Things like infrastructure, we want to create Belize City into not only stop in, but a destination in itself. We want to empower businesses. We want to empower the business community. We want to give some level of relief to residents and to business people who feel as if though they haven’t been given a fair deal as stakeholders within the city. And that’s just to name a few, and we have so many people that want to participate that we haven’t been given the opportunity to voice their recommendations, right? And I think that once new leadership is being introduced in the Council, I think that we see we will see exactly the potential that our city has.”

“If there’s an endorsement will you have a protest?”

Allan Pollard Jr.

“I think that’s too premature to mention right now. But what I will say is that the people who support me and the people who put their trust in the process and the party – those are the people who would be most disappointed.”

“But if you don’t get what you want and the mayor is endorsed, then what happens to your plans? Do you still look at Queen Square on that bigger scale?”

Allan Pollard Jr.

“Well for me, that’s always the goal, right? That’s always the goal and for me, I want to echo and I want the people to understand that for me, it’s not for any particular seat. We just want the opportunity to serve, whether it’s our country, whether it’s our city, and that’s what I’m here for. I’m a servant of the people. I’m here to serve Belize, and that’s where my interest lies. It’s nothing specific, nothing position-specific, you know. We just, at the same time, want our fair chance. I just want a fair chance and a fair opportunity to represent my party in any capacity. And that’s what we’re fighting for. That’s, that’s been the fight.”
