… And more accidents occurred over the weekend
The accident on the Western Highway is not the only traffic mishap to report tonight. At about nine fifteen p.m. last Saturday, Norman Anthony, a police officer of Los Lagos was driving with Delesia and Henry Anthony towards Lemonal when Norman lost control of the black Isuzu Rodeo and ran off the road. The vehicle flipped and landed on its right side in a ditch and Delesia was injured. The accident has landed Norman into plenty trouble and he has been slapped with numerous charges of traffic violations including Driving Without Due Care and Attention, Driving an Unlicensed Vehicle Not Covered by Insurance and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and one count of Negligent Grievous Harm caused to Delesia. Norman has been granted and made bail.
There were also two other reports of road traffic accidents in the Stann Creek District. At about eleven-thirty a.m. on February first, twenty-three year old Mark Jacobs of Mango Creek was driving on the Southern Highway near South Stann Creek when a parked towhead truck suddenly pulled into traffic causing him to flip his Saturn car off the road and into a culvert. Jacobs received minor injuries while his girlfriend Liany Martinez received injuries to her arms and forehead. The driver of the towhead, twenty-four hear old Juan Sandoval of St. Margaret’s Village has been issued a notice of intended prosecution.
The second accident in the Stann Creek District involved a former minister of government. Sixty-one year old Ainslie Leslie of San Ignacio Town was driving his Dodge Ram pickup on the Stann Creek Valley road when, between miles fifteen and sixteen, four year old Rihanna Pineda of Steadfast Village ran across the highway. Leslie swerved to the far left of the road to avoid hitting the child but she was still clipped by the right fender of his vehicle. Pineda was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital for the fracture she sustained to her left foot. Leslie has also been served with notice of intended prosecution.
