Four charged for robbery of Tang’s Store
Two men stormed and robbed Tang’s Store on Vasquez Avenue while others waited in a getaway vehicle last Friday evening. The thieves took off with four hundred dollars from the cash register but were intercepted by police shortly after the incident. According to owner of the store, Zan Chu Chen, the men were armed with appeared to be a sawed off shot-gun and the vehicle waiting outside was a red Toyota. And today four men were brought before Magistrate Albert Hoare to face charges of Robbery, Harm, Kept Unlicensed Firearm and Kept Unlicensed Ammunition. Jermaine Palacio, Lionel Sampson, Leon Usher and Jermaine Garbutt were all found in the getaway car along with a home-made sawed off shotgun that was used in the hold-up. But three of the men pleaded not guilty to the charges. Palacio was the only one that decided to plead guilty and he told the magistrate that the others had nothing to do with the crime. Palacio, however, did not agree with some of the details that were read in court and Magistrate Hoare entered a not guilty plea instead. The four were remanded to the Hattieville Prison until January fifth.
