Date Set for Senate Special Select Committee Hearing
The Senate Special Select Committee that has been established to conduct an investigation into the Definitive Agreement has scheduled the public hearing for November. The committee met on Monday in Belmopan where the members agreed on a date. They also approved a six-month budget which has been submitted to the Ministry of Finance. A release from the National Assembly further states that the committee shortlisted attorneys interested in providing expert legal advice to the committee. The committee also made a request for information documents and data to Cabinet Secretary Stuart Leslie, the Integrity Commission and BELTRAIDE. According to the release, responses from the cabinet secretary and BELTRAIDE are pending. Finally, the committee requested and received tenders from the respective media houses to provide broadcasting services.
