High-calibre Weapon Used in Leslie Murder Still Not Recovered
And as the Belize Police Department endeavors to keep the murder rate below figures of previous years, one of its concerns along that path has to be that a high-powered weapon that was used in the murder of Orel Leslie at the Albert and Regent Street junction in late August has still not been found. A nine millimeter handgun was recovered in the possession of the suspects, but a forty caliber pistol that was also used is still out there. Today, Commissioner Williams theorized that it is a possibility that the suspects may have disposed of the weapon as they fled the scene.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“We have still not been able to locate that weapon. I know that the other weapon that was used in that particular murder was found with the accused persons immediately after the murder. Certainly they may have thrown the other one while they were running from the police and we were not able to find that one. But our investigative team remains vigilant and if it should emerge somewhere later on, then we see where we go from there.”
