P.U.P. Ready for Municipal Elections: Endorsements Coming
Municipal elections are slated for March sixth of next year; that’s five months away and the People’s United Party is well underway in finalising slates for the election. Over the weekend, a meeting of the National Party Council was held and News Five has been informed that several slates will be getting endorsed within the next few weeks. Corozal is set for October fourteenth and San Pedro for October twenty-eighth, and we are told that Orange Walk will also enjoy an endorsement sometime soon. When the media caught up with P.U.P. party leader and Prime Minister John Briceño on Wednesday, he commented on this recent development.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“In many instances we believe that it is best that we try to unite in these elections. In most instances, I believe that most of the town councils, the municipal bodies have performed fairly well. So, as opposed to create division, we believe that we need to be able to unite and to get ready for the elections in about five months. I think it is the sixth of March and we still feel confident that we will win the majority of the seats.”
