Stella Maris and City’s Public Libraries to be Revamped
The Ministry of Education is in the process of revamping Stella Maris School for children with special needs, as well as the public libraries in Belize City. The transformation will begin in January and will include the provision of Wi-Fi and making the facilities more conducive to learning. Today, Minister Fonseca said after the work is finished, the school and libraries should feel like appealing community spaces.
Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education
“There’ll be a lot of work starting there in January on those libraries to completely transform them, transform Stella Maris into a truly inclusive educational institution that’s welcoming for people with diverse abilities, and to make the libraries more relevant to the needs of young people. Today, we want young people to go into these libraries, so we have to have full Wi-Fi access and we have to really transform the layout of the library, make it more appealing, make them community spaces, and really enjoy their experience at the library.”
