Shyne Leaves Faber’s Fate to Party’s Internal Mechanism
It appears that the Opposition Leader has had a change of heart regarding one matter, which is having a bye-election to replace his representative for Collet. Patrick Faber rubbed Barrow the wrong way when he wrote that letter to the committee distancing himself from the comments made to the speaker. Earlier this week, Barrow announced that Faber’s vote is tantamount to crossing the floor. But, tonight the opposition leader is saying that he will leave the matter to be dealt with internally.
Moses Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
“The irony of it is that it is that same member who when a gentleman by the name of Cardona. He was the orange walk Area Rep for the UDP, the gentleman you are referring to wrote him a letter as party chairman to tell me that he constructively resigned because while he did not vote against the party, he spoke against the party. I just thought that was ironic. The party will deal with the matter internally. My colleagues have asked me to deal with the matter internally and I will respect that request.”

“Did you call for a division on the vote to see where your members stand on this matter?”
Moses Shyne Barrow
“Well I know where people stand. So you call the division so people could stand where they stand.”

“Do you believe Faber did cross the floor or were you being a bit hasty?”
Moses Shyne Barrow
“I don’t believe I was being hasty. I spoke to five different lawyers and they gave me five different opinions. What was done in the house committee, I wouldn’t say unprecedented because as I said, Cardona did the same thing and interestingly enough when he did it Faber considered it resigning. And I think they did write to the speaker saying that he crossed the floor and the speaker, I am not sure what the interpretation was that the speaker had but they moved his seat somewhere. But, the party will deal with it.”
