PM Tells Shyne He is Not “Macho Man” For Not Apologizing

Prime Minister John Briceño also shared his thoughts on the motion. He took the representatives back to the days when U.D.P. Senator Michael Peyrefitte was Speaker of the House. According to PM Briceño, Peyrefitte was a bully as a speaker, but as with speakers that followed, the P.U.P. never referred to anyone of them as a waste of time.

“You remember when Michael Peyrefitte the yah and how he use to treat we. I can’t even find the words to describe. He was a bully, continued to be a bully. He was so bad, Michael Peyrefitte was so bad as speaker and uncontrollable that even the then Prime Minister had to change him. With Ms Longworth we knew he was a UDP and we knew she would do what the Prime Minister tells her to do. She was a lady and behaved like one and we treated her with decorum and respect. There were many times she ruled against us, but we never dared to call her named. Many times she never accepted my questions you know, questions when I thought was within the standing orders. I never tell she, she is a waste of time and call her out to say oh I dah macho man. You dah nuh macho man when you behave like that. You are degrading yourself.”
