Motivational speaker inspires insurance agents

It takes a special person to lift up and motivate others to action. But today at the launch of their 2009 Sales Campaign, the employees of Sagicor Capital Life got the opportunity to hear from a motivational speaker. K. Barrington Thomas was born in Trinidad and for almost a decade he has been empowering corporate and public employees throughout the region … this week at the behest of Sagicor, he traveled to Belize. Here are some snippets from his speech.

“How many of you truly understand that you are in the right place at the right time? This is the best time to be alive in the history of mankind and there has never been a better moment to be alive. If you don’t understand that, you have a real challenge. Raise your sights… don’t let anyone tell you how much business to write. You agree, right? They say you’re hot, you’re not any old tired agent who is just making two or three hundred thousand dollars a year, tell you tell you what is good performance; set your own standards. If you feel you deserve eight hundred thousand dollars in income, then just do it. The role of life is to watch. The role of life is to watch as in w-a-t-c-h-. Be aware, be alert, watch. Watch how the Hondurans and the Guatemalans and even Mexicans are coming across your border. Watch how the Chinese are infiltrating your community; thousands and thousands of them. Watch because it is spelt o-p-p-o-r-t-u-n-i-t-y. Thousands and thousands of people who are coming here love to swim in your rivers and watch the beaches and boast on how much land they have in Belize. They are coming for opportunity, they are coming to build a new life. What an opportunity to sit and start to plan with them and build them, am I making sense to anybody?”

In addition to employees from Belize, the campaign launch featured those from Sagicor Capital Life offices in Curacao, Aruba, and Cayman.
