Woman beats up senior citizen; charged in court
It is unusual to hear of senior citizens on the receiving end of a beating. But that’s what happened to sixty-nine year old Sonia Garnett, who claims she was at home on Monday when at about four-thirty in the evening, her neighbor attempted to enter her yard. Garnett says she stood at the entrance to keep Leonor Mariano out, but she was overpowered by the twenty-eight year old who knocked her over with the gate and started hitting her in the face. Mariano then reportedly held down Garnett, ripped off her blouse and left. A doctor classified Garnett’s injuries as Harm, so today Mariano was read that charge along with Damage to Property for Garnett’s blouse. She pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of one thousand five hundred dollars. The case was adjourned until January twenty-fifth 2010.
