Laguna Village Says It’s Willing to Discuss Boundary Dispute
Deputy Alcalde of Laguna Village, Monica Coc-Magnusson explained to News Five that they are convinced that Yemeri Grove has no grounds for its claim to the lands near the Laguna access road. She said that she is, as well as the rest of the village, open to sit down with the people of Yemeri and to work out their differences on their existing boundary dispute. But, Coc insists that the way forward has to be grounded in fairness, and equity for the people of the two villages.
Monica Coc-Magnusson, Deputy Alcalde, Laguna
“We still feel like their claims are baseless; we’re still willing to sit down. Let’s hear you out. Let me hear you, let me understand where it is that you’re coming from. We have always been open to discussion. We’ve never closed the door to that, and the government knows that. In fact, that is why we made a proposal from our community, even though we weren’t hearing it from the other side. We proposed, in the interest of keeping the peace, in the interest of being good neighbours, so absolutely we are willing to sit down, but it has to be on the principles of equity and fairness and what is just. So, that’s where we stand.”
