Minister of Home Affairs Says Regional Police Conference is First Ever in Belize
Minister of Home Affairs, Kareem Musa, says that he and Commissioner Williams will review the details of the two-day conference. On the face of it, one of the challenges of arguably all police departments is the issue of finding adequate resources to address matters of crime. And, as far as Belize’s challenge on that issue, we asked the minister if there will be some consideration by the government to provide more funding to the police department. He also said that the conference was a first of its kind in Belize.

“We have to prepare a report and we have to look at where it is we will have to improve on our budgets certainly moving forward, but this is a gargantuan move by Belize by not just to host it, and like I said previously, to have our commissioner as the president sitting at this very high level with the other commissioners and chiefs of police. So I want to congratulate the Commissioner of Police on a job well done and an excellent conference and we certainly look forward to greater partnerships and collaborations with the other commissioners.”
