Couple knocked down in hit and run; husband killed
While no one was injured in the fires, one man lost his life in a traffic accident. Police have in custody a Honduran national working as a taxi driver in Belize following the hit and run on Saturday evening. Thirty-two year old Juan Rodrigues knocked down fifty-six year old Manuel Dubon and his spouse fifty-four year old Eva Gomez in the Buttercup Area of Burrell Boom and did not stop to help. Dubon, a father of six sons, died of head injuries at the scene of the accident, and Gomez is currently hospitalized with a broken shoulder and ankle. “The name of the male person is one Manuel Dubon and the name of the female is one Eva Gomez. Mr. Dubon, who was on the left hand side of the road apparently died, while his wife Mrs. Gomez suffered injuries to her body. The right shoulder was broken and also the left ankle was broken whereby Mrs. Dubon was transported to K.H.M.H. by Bert Ambulance.”

“Actually the driver handed over himself the same night where he is in police custody at this time.”

“Well he has several charges to get like Driving Without Due Care and Attention, Failure to Render Assistance, Causing Death by Careless Conduct and etcetera.”
Sergeant Aaron Zuniga says Rodrigues will be charged by the end of tomorrow.
