B.W.S. Addresses Water Conservation Amid Flooding
Belize Water Services Limited has issued a public notice on water conservation. The utility company has also issued a similar advisory for customers to boil water before consumption. Earlier today, B.W.S. informed customers in areas experiencing flooding, particularly those connected to San Ignacio/Santa Elena distribution system that one of its pumps has burnt out and remains inaccessible for repairs due to flooding in San Ignacio Town. As a result, B.W.S. has taken measures to conserve water storage, particularly during peak hours. Out of an abundance of caution, the company strongly recommends that customers in the affected areas boil their water before consumption. For residents in rural areas facing flooding conditions and relying on well water, it is advised that they treat the drinking water to ensure safety.
