Police Lay Charges for Murder that Occurred 18 Months Ago

Police have laid charges against a man in connection with a murder that occurred in April 2022, more than eighteen months ago. You might recall when Jose Cedillos was shot multiple times on Good Friday, 2022 in Guinea Grass Village, Orange Walk. Reports are that Cedillos had threatened to assault a relative for monies that were owed to him and that he had picked up some rocks and headed over to where the relative was. There was reportedly no physical confrontation, and Cedillos did not hurl any of the rocks when he went to speak to the relative. But when his neighbor, Nelson de Jesus Segovia, got wind of the situation and heard that Cedillos had threatened someone, he armed himself with a gun and went to intervene. But he ended up killing Cedillos. And today, police indicated that they have charged him with Cedillos’ murder.
