Continental Airlines’ Toys for Tots show reigns in celebs
Every year for the past twelve years, Continental Airlines has been hosting a toy for tots event for less fortunate children. This year, the event has taken on a whole new dimension. The Belize branch of Continental Airlines is putting on a fashion show and models from Belize will be joining one big name from the U.S. on the catwalk, America’s Next Top Model’s Bianca Golden. Musician and author, Derrick Watkins, popularly known as Fonzworth Bentley, from MTV’s Reality Show from Gs to Gents will be hosting Saturday’s Rock the Runway at the Biltmore Plaza. Also in town for the event is actress, Faune Chambers, from the White Chicks movie. This afternoon, News Five caught up with the models at a wine and cheese event.
Faune Chambers, Actress
“I got involved with some wonderful friends that are from down here and they said that they were doing something for the kids and I came on down.”
Duane Moody
“Have you ever been to Belize before?”
Faune Chambers
“No, this is my first time. I am excited, absolutely. I’m expecting a beautiful show, beautiful clothes to show. I think I love fashion shows because it shows the human spirit and the creativity and we can all come together, how fabrics are moving together and they are all woven together as one and if we come together we can do great things together. So that’s what I’m expecting. I’m expecting the spirit of our humanity to be there, the love that we have and the acceptance that we have for one another, especially our youths.”
Derrick “Fonzworth Bentley” Watkins, Entertainer
“A good friend of mine, I shop on Park Avenue in New York City by the name of Jay Kos and the manager of that store, she is actually from Belize, Michele. So she told me about the affair I think about three months ago and she told me it was a really big deal and she told me what it was about and she told me how much money has been raised in the past and I was like wow. I would love to be a part of it and now I am here. You can expect a lot of fashion, a lot of good spirit and I’m gonna have an interesting words of wisdom.”
Duane Moody
“Is this your first time here?”
Derrick “Fonzworth Bentley” Watkins
“This is my first time here so I am excited to see the beautiful country. I’ve been doing a little googling, a little bit online but I really wanted most of it to be excited. That’s why I like to do a lot of international travel to be surprised.”
Duane Moody
“How long are you going to be here?”
Derrick “Fonzworth Bentley” Watkins
“I’m gonna be here until Sunday but I don’t know I might have to extend this thing.”
Michelle Wagner, U.S. Designer
“What I did this time around for Continental is to provide our service from New York from my company to bring in some entertainers for the Toys for Tots, which I am happy and grateful that I was able to do that.”
Duane Moody
“How long did it take you to put this together?”
Michelle Wagner
“Well, okay let me see, Miss Craig called me about six weeks ago and she said well Michelle is there any possible way and I said I got it don’t worry and this is what happened, it worked out.”
Duane Moody
“So what can people expect on Saturday night?”
Michelle Wagner
“A lot of fashion, awesome, awesome and I’m excited. There is a special scene, there’s a Bollywood scene, which Miss Craig has not seen as yet but she is super excited and our men’s collection is from Jay Kos New York and I am the in-house stylist there and I have a lot to offer; a lot of cashmeres, bright colors… sexy.”
Duane Moody
“Are you ready for the runway come Saturday?”
Bianca Golden, Model
“I’m always ready for the runway. That’s my favorite thing to do. The photo shoots, they’re fun cause you get to transform but the runway is just an adrenaline rush. It’s so much fun.”
Monica Bodden, Love FM
“You work with kids a lot?”
Bianca Golden
“Yes, I’m actually going back to school to be a teacher so this is right up my alley.”
Duane Moody
“I know they’re saying that we should expect a lot come this Saturday. What can we expect from Bianca?”
Bianca Golden
“you can expect a lot of fun, a lot of jokes between me and Derrick hosting the show and you can expect fire on the runway from me.”
