Gun snaps and Glen Burgess charged for aggravated assault
A man with a number of robbery charges before the court was shot at and pursued by a gunman on Arlington Drive on Tuesday. Twenty-five year old Kaylon Matura, was allegedly shot at in broad daylight by eighteen year old Glen Burgess, of Faber’s Road. Today, Burgess was taken to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded to the Hattieville Prison until January fifth. Matura reported to police that while standing in his sister’s yard on Arlington Drive, he was approached by Burgess who fired a shot from a point thirty-eight revolver which missed him. Fearing for his life, Matura said he ran inside Lisa’s Matura’s house with Burgess in hot pursuit behind him. Burgess reportedly pulled the trigger in his direction, but the gun snapped. Burgess fled the scene and was detained later that day by Crimes Investigation Branch personnel.
