George Hardie Jr. and David Gomez waiting for release
News Five reported on Wednesday that George Hardie junior and David Abner Gomez of the Las Vegas casino in Corozal, were released from the Mexican prison but were still being held by immigration authorities. Well, tonight the men are still in Mexican custody and waiting to return home. When we checked with Corozal police today, we were told that while a time has not been specified, Hardie and Gomez are expected to be handed over on Friday. The men were imprisoned for over a year after a confrontation with two disorderly patrons at the Las Vegas Casino that ended in the Subtiniente Lopez area with a shootout. Mexican national Luis Navarro was injured. Hardie and Gomez were charged along with Curlin Thompson and Martin Miller and they were all convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to ten years. While Thompson and Miller simply applied for a transfer, Hardie and Gomez successfully appealed the conviction on Tuesday.
