Dispute at a Hattieville Shop Ends With Shots Fired
A resident of Rockville came under gunfire on Sunday night following an exchange of words with an individual at a shop in nearby Hattieville. Orin Joseph told police that he entered the establishment to purchase a few items and was subsequently approached by someone who wanted him to buy several items for him. When he refused, Joseph and the unnamed individual got into a dispute. Upon leaving the premises, several shots were fired at his vehicle. Here’s Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero with additional details.
ACP Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander, Eastern Division
“On Sunday, November 12th, 2023, around 9:23 p.m., Orin Joseph, forty years old, Belizean of Rockville Village, reported that he was at QB’s Store in Hattieville in his vehicle when he was approached by a male person who was asking for some items from the store from him. Joseph reported that he refused to purchase the items for the person and they had a verbal dispute. Joseph reported that he then left the area in his vehicle at which point he heard gunshots and then realized that the back glass of his vehicle was shattered. No one was injured. We are looking for one person in regards to this shooting who will be charged when he is apprehended.”

“Sir, the report that we had gotten said that this gentleman noticed that this guy had a firearm on him and they had intended to take it from that individual. Is that a recommended course of action for civilians?”
Hilberto Romero
“No, it is not. We have that they had a dispute after which they drove off and then the gunshots were heard. But, of course, that is not recommended.”
