P.S.U. President says Publish Names of Price Gougers
The issue of price gouging was discussed during a recent meeting between the Joint Unions Negotiating Team and government last week in Belize City. The suggestion from the JUNT is for a group of fifty-five public officers from different regions to be trained to actively contribute to addressing the issue of price gouging by assisting the Price Control Unit within the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in issuing citations to businesses. P.S.U. President, Dean Flowers, says that after a business is given a ticket, its name should be published for all to see.

“As it relates to the businesses that we were informed have been issued tickets for price gouging or for not, I am not quite sure if the legislation also covers not issuing receipts. We did not receive that list. And I believe, yes that that list ought to be published on a monthly basis. Publish the names of all the businesses that are being issued ticket for price gouging so that people know that they’re price gougers and they should avoid them in their entirety. So I support that and I believe that is something that we should be calling for a publication on a monthly basis by the Price Control Unit of all those businesses who have received a ticket for price gouging.”
