Police officers injured at night clubs
Last week Thursday night, a police officer was stabbed in the abdomen following an altercation at a local bar. A painter was apprehended and has been in custody since then. Today, Eusebio Cal was charged with a slew of offenses including attempted murder, dangerous harm, use of deadly means of harm and damage to property. Cal is accused with inflicting the stab wound to PC Eric Patt with a broken bottle and causing over seven hundred and fifty dollars worth in damages to the police vehicle. Patt was hospitalized and police allege that when they were taking Cal to the station, he hit his head continuously on the windshield of the vehicle. Cal, who was denied bail, has also claimed he was beaten by police. He was treated at KHMH and released to police custody. He is due back in court in January.
But that was not the only incident over the past few days in which an officer was injured. A Dangriga Police officer who was working at a night club was injured on Sunday night. A man identified as twenty-four year old Zane Godoy, reportedly slashed the tires on the vehicle belonging to Corporal Pedro Pech. Pech attempted to apprehend Godoy and that was when he was stabbed. The reports say Godoy attempted to flee and that was when Corporal Pech shot him on his right upper leg. Godoy was transported to the K.H.M.H. and is under police guard. The charges that are being prepared against him include Wounding, Attempted Murder, Damage to Property, and Use of Deadly Means of Harm. The Internal Affairs Department of the Police will conduct its own investigation to assess if justifiable force was used during the incident.
