Asian Businessman Shot and Killed in Vista del Mar

There was a murder last evening in the Vista del Mar area of Ladyville.  Sometime around 6:15 p.m., police responded to a seaside location just off Ocean Jack Drive where they saw the lifeless body of an Asian businessman.  Thirty-seven-year-old Canhua Zhen, a resident of Benque Viejo del Carmen, was along with three other individuals, including Zhichao Tan, Elmer Gomez and Alex Rivera.  The men were reportedly fishing in the area and were conversing around a bonfire when they were ambushed and fired upon.  As many as twelve gunshots were heard coming from a mangrove area just across from where the men were gathered.  Amid the shower of bullets, they fled towards the nearby road, but Zhen fell to the ground and died at the scene.  Viewers would recall that Zhichoa Tan was recently arrested and charged for possession of crystal meth.  On October fourth, Tan and his common-law wife were arrested and charged for possession of forty-six point seven grams of the synthetic drug.  Tan pleaded guilty and was fined six thousand dollars for the offense.  A police investigation into the murder of Canhua Zhen is ongoing.
