Transport Minister Weighs in on Floralia Court Ruling
Last week, we reported that the road service permits that the Belize Transport Board had issued to Floralia over the past two years for runs to Punta Gorda and Independence were quashed in the High Court. The court passed a decision that favoured the proprietors of Griga Line and James Bus Line. The two bus companies had brought civil action against the Ministry of Transport, including the minister, his C.E.O., the Transport Board, the Chief Transport Officer, and the Chairperson of the Transport Board and that lawsuit was successful. It means that come December tenth, all of Floralia’s runs to these destinations will have to cease. Today, News Five caught up with Minister of Transport, Rodwell Ferguson who told us that since the ruling, the matter has been placed in the hands of the Attorney General’s Ministry.

“At this point I will not say much because the ruling has been done and the Attorney General and afterwards I will speak openly to the public. We are a country of laws and the court ruled, and so we have to abide by the court but the AG is now working to figure out what is the way forward.”
