City man pulls gun on ex-girlfriend

In news from the courts, a squabble between a Belize City woman and her former boyfriend has landed the man in police custody. Thirty-one year old Kenisha Velasquez of Central American Boulevard told police that at around twelve-thirty this morning, her boyfriend dropped her off at the gate and upon entering her home, she heard a loud bang from inside. She alleges that she spotted her ex-boyfriend, twenty-seven year old Hassan Valencio, stooping by a window and that she detected a homemade sawed off shotgun strapped to him which he used to fire a shot at her. Police formally arrested and charged Valencio with Aggravated Assault and Keeping a Prohibited Firearm. And when he appeared in court this morning to answer to the charges, he pleaded not guilty. But due to the nature of the offence, Valencio was remanded into custody until March third.
