P.U.P. Fights to Remove Shyne Barrow off Mesop Voters List

While Barrow is taking the former prime ministers and foreign ministers to task on their collective position on Israel, the People’s United Party has mounted a legal battle in the lower court in an attempt to have him removed from the voters roll in Mesopotamia.  In the courtroom of the Chief Magistrate earlier today, several witnesses took the stand for the claimant and the defendant, the P.U.P. and the U.D.P., respectively.  Attorney Leeroy Banner is representing the People’s United Party, while Richard ‘Dickie’ Bradley represents Opposition Leader Shyne Barrow.

“The Chief Magistrate of Belize is, under the election laws, the revising officer of the voters list for the entire Belize District which of course includes ten constituencies in Belize City.  As most of your viewers would know, the voters list is the key in any municipal or general elections.  And so what transpired today is the third witness on behalf of objectors, being two, who are trying their very best to have the revising officer remove the honorable Moses Shyne Barrow from the constituency of the Mesopotamia Division.  There was an attempt some weeks ago which they abandoned, but now that the list has come for the annual revision which must be completed in a few days time for the year 2023, they have raised objections again.  Two witnesses have spoken at length claiming that the reason they are objecting is that they do not know that the honorable Barrow resided or resides at that address.  The witness who has come today is a witness who says he was directed by his employers to do a surveillance of the honorable Barrow’s previous address and his current address at 80 King Street.  That witness is of very little help to the court or the revising officer because he can’t speak to the period which was checked, certified and verified by the elections officials who has no axe to grind.”
